About me
John Opsopaus, PhD, has been practicing Hellanismos (the worship of the Greek gods) since the 1980s. He has more than forty publications in various magical and Neopagan magazines. He frequently presents workshops on Hellenic magic, Neopaganism, Pythagorean theurgy, and spiritual practices. He is a retired university professor with more than forty-five years of experience reading ancient Greek and Latin. He is the author of The Oracles of Apollo: Practical Ancient Greek Divination for Today (2017) and The Secret Texts of Hellenic Polytheism: The Restored Pagan Religion of George Gemistos Plethon (2022). He also designed the Pythagorean Tarot and wrote the comprehensive Pythagorean Tarot (2001, 2023). His illustrated translation of The Tablet of Cebes and Cebes’ Path to Enlightenment were published in 2023, as was Pythagorean Theology and the Esoteric Elements. Most recently he has published The Oracles of Homer and the Bones: Divination with the Ancient Homeromanteion and Astragalomanteion. Opsopaus’ award-winning Biblioteca Arcana website (http://opsopaus.com) has been a resource for Pagans and magicians for more than 30 years.
