What happens after death is often rushed, hidden, or handed over without choice. This 60-minute workshop explores the deeply human practices of after-death body care, ritual, and shrouding, and why reclaiming them matters. Alexis, Executive Director of the Home Funeral Alliance, will discuss practical approaches to caring for the dead, cultural and spiritual traditions surrounding ritual washing and shrouding, and how these practices support grief, meaning-making, and community connection. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of their options, the role of ritual in honoring the dead, and how intentional body care can transform the experience of loss.
